Buckets & Borders teamed up with the WNBA, NBA Canada, and Dairy Farmers of Ontario to create Canada’s first WNBA outdoor court!
Inspired by Toronto’s basketball community and to celebrate women’s basketball in Canada, the restored DMC became one of Toronto’s most iconic and inclusive public destinations.
The project was completed in summer 2023.
The City of Toronto, in partnership with Buckets & Borders, put together A 10 person youth committee. The local youth committee led the project from the jump and helped with all aspects of the project.
Shoutout to Rivertowne and the DMC Youth Committee for bringing this project to life!
Fiorella Granda was successfully selected as the artist to complete the artwork at the DMC, which she named “The W Club”
Having been an alumnus of the University of Toronto Women's Basketball Team, Fiorella’s love for the game runs deep.
“The W Club” is a collection of iconic women's basketball moments that beautifully blends the power of player performance with the magic of artistic expression. Through this work, she celebrates the vibrant culture of women's basketball and brings people together through the universal language of the game.
