The Northwood Community Centre, adjacent to Sisler Highschool, and surrounding neighborhood has a rich history rooted in basketball and a deep connection to the game.
Working collaboratively with the students, Sisler Alumni and local Winnipeg artist Jonato Dalayoan designed the court artwork with the objective of celebrating the rich hoop culture surrounding the court.

“This concept plays off the idea of inclusivity and both a masculine and feminine approach. The idea came from referencing the student sketches.This piece represents a court for anyone, regardless of gender, race or background. The figures are mirrored to represent equality, balance, energy, and flow.
Tying in some 90’s inspiration, the motion of the players was inspired by the iconic Allen Iverson crossover.
